Step 1. What are chaise lounges used for outdoors?
A chaise lounge is a fantastic outdoor furniture option for anyone with a lot of space in their garden, or especially for someone with an outdoor pool. Full-body-body support and an angled back, the shape of an outdoor chaise lounge is ideal for relaxing or even drifting off to sleep on a shady evening. You can position a few chairs next to your pool for a great sunbathing spot following a swim. You can work on your tan while keeping an eye on the kids as they splash about in the pool. You don’t need to have a separate footstool – as the chaise lounge is in once piece.
A chaise lounge hangs closer to the ground than a bench, outdoor sofa or rocking chair. This should be kept in mind in case the family has mobility issues – you can get on the chaise lounge much easier if you are lower towards the ground.
The comfort assured with a chaise lounge is enhanced even further with the addition of a cushion, you can comfortably relax the day away. You can complete your chaise lounge with the addition of a side table, in this, you can sip your favourite tea and set down your latest book when it’s time for a bit of a snooze.
Step 2. What’s the size of your space?
Chaise lounges cover more area squared than most single-occupancy outdoor furniture options. You have enough room to stretch out in the sunshine for a luscious nap in the afternoon time.
Smaller decks and patios may not be the perfect fit for a chaise lounge set. A chaise lounge set is a good idea if you want to separate a larger space with zones, in the pathways leading to your pool. (You don’t need a pool to get the most from chaise lounges).
You should leave around two to three feet between chaise lounges for ease of access. You can account for additional space behind and in front of each chaise lounge so that you can navigate around the deck or patio without any obtrusive obstructions of issues to deal with. You should examine your space and consider the dimensions of your space to see if it is the right choice for your lounging area.
Step 3. What kind of material to use?
We love the look of timber – the heavy set cut blocks look fabulous, the problem lies in the fact that wood doesn’t last forever and requires constant maintenance to stop it from rotting, cracking or splitting.
Plastic is durable but looks a tad tacky – especially after years of weathering. That cheap hotel lounger look isn’t ideal for many gardens.
Mobek uses CR Plastics patented plastic timber which looks like wood, but is made from plastic, so it doesn’t require maintenance – aside from a wipe down now and again.
