Spring is the perfect time to refresh your patio and renew your outdoor living space. By spending a little bit of time preparing ahead of time, you can enjoy your patio all season long and not have to worry about tidying up before it’s warm enough to use. Whether you have a large deck, small patio, or are just looking to spruce up your front porch, here are five ways to refresh your patio for springtime use.
Prepare and clean the space, clean away all the dirt and debris that you might find around the garden and patio area.
The first thing you need to do is prepare and clean your garden, take all of your furniture off, wash and clean your patio so that you have a fresh surface once it’s time to create or rebuild your patio. You might want to consider removing any unused or broken furniture. Don’t forget to also wash away any dirt or debris that has accumulated during wintertime. While doing so, check if there are any problems with chairs or tables (cracks, chips, rot etc.). It may be time to get some new garden furniture. If that’s the case, we have you covered
Paint your fence
Painting your fence will add a splash of colour to your space and ensure that it is a bright and positive space – ideal for recreation time spent outside.
Maintain your garden
If you’ve got a garden, it’s important that you water and maintain it. It’s a good time to start growing or at least make sure that your garden is ready for the growing season. Now is the time to start growing grass on your lawn, weeding plants and making sure that the soil in the garden is healthy. Ensure that you check over your garden regularly, to make sure everything is looking good.
Clean everything that needs cleaning
This is a good opportunity to make sure your patio is clean, swept and free of debris. You might need to borrow a power washer or buy your own if you are committed to keeping your patio clear over time.
Get some furniture
This is the fun part – you can get hold of some truly great pieces of furniture as long as you make the right selection. We recommend our Mobek furniture which is made from recycled plastic bottles. Not only that but they do not deteriorate over time like many of their counterparts of other material and construction. While wooden furniture can be damaged by sun and rain, and even rot over time, it needs to be covered or put in some shelter, and even sanded down once per year and restained.
There are a lot of ways you can improve your patio without digging deep into your wallet. If you’re in need of an overhaul, look around at what you already have before deciding what new elements you want to include. By keeping your existing furniture and accessories, you can infuse fresh plants and colours into an old space. In other words, no matter how much time has passed since last year’s spring cleaning, never be afraid to give it another go. If your space lacks a pop of colour, consider incorporating more vibrant plants or hanging colourful wind chimes and lanterns from patio ceilings and arbours; these small details can add up to big results when it comes to transforming any space from dreary-looking drabness into a colourful outdoor haven.
Add outdoor lighting
Outdoor lighting can add both ambience and security to your outdoor living space. Most outdoor lamps use photocell sensors that turn on automatically as dusk approaches, which is useful if you’re entertaining in a far corner of your patio—you don’t have to run back and forth to a switch each time you need light. When you shop for fixtures, remember that solar-powered lamps are generally inexpensive.
